About N'gelZ

My photo
A photography obsessor who loves to play the piano and strum her guitar, an absolute beach-maniac, sunset lover, nuts about cats and arts, like traveling. ~She sees life as one great big joke, a dance that's walked a song that's spoke, she laugh so hard that she almost choke when she think about herself. ~You see she's just a human and While she knows herself as a creation of God, she's obligated to realize and remember that everyone else and everything else are also God's creation

It's Christmas Once Again

I'm dreamin' tonight of a place I love
Even more then I usually do
And although I know it's a long road back
I promise you

I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Please have snow and mistletoe
And presents under the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light beams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams

Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light beams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
I found this while i was on duty at Mesilau. It really reminds me about Christmas time.

Tutong

09 December 2010- Tutong: I was on duty again; taking samples from mother nature. As i made my way up on the hill on a windy morning, it broke my heart to see everything has been cleared. I found this leaf resting near my feet, waiting to be blown away by the wind. Up there, i could see nothing but a cleared empty space..

The Solitary

My heart has grown rich with the passing of years,
I have less need now than when I was young
To share myself with every comer
Or shape my thoughts into words with my tongue.

It is one to me that they come or go
If I have myself and the drive of my will,
And strength to climb on a summer night
And watch the stars swarm over the hill.

Let them think I love them more than I do,
Let them think I care, though I go alone;
If it lifts their pride, what is it to me
Who am self-complete as a flower or a stone.

just another perfect day..

The weather was perfect; blue sky with warm sunshine, yet i could feel the cool breeze blowing. We were up on the hill, looking down to the village and at our back, is the majestic Mt. Kinabalu. We drove up at 7 in the morning hoping to find the JKK of Kg. Desa Aman for a socio economic interview, but ended up at a small house belongs to a Pastor. Standing outside his house, i saw these pretty 'fella' lookin' up at me as if wishing me  "good morning".  Bent down, and i took a snap of my new found 'friends' from a lower angle:). I wish i could take them home..

2nd Attempt

I was listening to Shontelle's song when i had the idea of putting part of the lyrics into perspective.
And so i ended up with this image- another attempt to mixed match some photos. Not as good as those pro artist, but i'm glad to have it done in my way:).

18th October 2010

Another ordinary weekend had passed; drove mum to our second home, loafing + WiFi-ing with my sister, lazing around by the beach (i love the beach!), playing with my kittens, and the list goes on...Well anyway that's not the point, I would love to say thanks to my sister for revamping my blog site with her creativity(i authorized her to do so). And yes i like what i see here. If you like what she'd done to my site, perhaps you would like to visit her creations in her blog at ihaveadream79.blogspot.com (^^,). I am not as good as her when it comes to words and such design,.. i guess i just continue my passion with photography (i'm currently hunting for a new dslr cam. (**,)).

Have a nice day people!

Falling in Love

Am i falling in love? Yes,..But no, not that kind of love you have in your mind, i think i'm falling in love in arts and photography; put it together and i have digital arts ;).

"Love stories have so overworked the power
of love's gaze, that finally people agreed to
discount it. We hardly dare, nowadays, to admit
that two human beings loved one another
because they looked at one another. Yet—
love dawns thus, and only thus. The rest—
comes afterwards. Nothing is more true, more real,
that the primeval magnetic disturbances that two souls
may communicate to one another, through the
tiny sparks of a moment's glance"

~Victor Hugo~
One doesn't fall in love;one grows into love and love grows in him..

Claire Hayness
This picture was taken during my elder sister's wedding. Claire Hayness - one of the flower girls and yes she loves the camera.  The she smile and holds the bouquet reminds me about  what Earl Nigthingale says; always keep that happy attitude. Pretend that you are holding a beautiful fragrant bouquet. Till then have a nice day people!

A Thought of the Past

I’ll have the days I break, And I’ll have the scars to prove it, I’ll have the bonds that I save, But I'll have the heart not to lose it. For all of the times I've stopped, For all of the things I’m not. I put one foot in front of the other, I move like I ain’t got no other, I go when I go, I'm marching on and let my past be gone....

Say goodbye to the oldies, but goodies, because the good old days weren't always good and tomorrow ain't as bad as it seems. What I need to know about the past is no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring me to this very moment. And this is the moment I can choose to make everything new. Right here, right now.

FELIS CATUS

Facts About them:
  • Cats are born with blue eyes. They change at approximately 12 weeks of age.
  • Sometimes your cat will find it difficult to find the treats you throw him on the floor. The reason is because cats can't see directly under their own nose.
  • Cats can jump between 5 & 7 times as high as their tail.
  • Ailurophobia: the hate or fear of cats
  • 80% of all cats, big and small, have the same reaction to catnip, due to their feline genes. Cats that are younger than 6 months and tigers however, do not react to catnip.
  • A cat uses it's whiskers to tell if the space they are contemplating entering is big enough for them.
  • Cats not only walk on their toes but they have 5 toes on their front paws and 4 toes on the their back paws.
  • Killing a cat was punishable by death in acient Egypt.
  • Just like fingerprints on humans, the nose pad of cats is rigid in a pattern that is completely unique.
  • Sir Isaac Newton is credited for inventing the cat door.
  • Start a garden inside your home. Cats love to eat grass, parsley, catnip, and sage. However, consult your Vet before planting a garden for your cat to eat. Many plants are harmful or even fatal to cats.
  • Pet owners live longer, happier lives with less stress and less heart attacks.
  • Cats prefer their food at room temperature.
  • Don't put your cat's collar on too tight. Make sure you can slip 2 fingers between the collar and the cat.

 Their Behavior

  • In order to cover their trails from predators, cats bury their feces.
  • A cat who rolls over and exposes its stomach to you, feel very safe and secure around you. They are also letting you know that they enjoy your company.
  • Cats kead their paws when they are happy.
  • Your cat will pick on your mood and will change their mood based on yours.
  • If your cat likes to climb the Christmas tree, hang a lemon or orange scented air freshner on the bark. They don't care for those smells and will leave the tree alone.
  • Cats speak to humans who speak to them. They also get their security from your voice, so watch your tone.
  • Cats rub up against objects and people in an attempt to put their scent on them, i.e. "mark them"
  • Cats purr when they are feeling any strong emotions.
  • 30% of a cat's waking hours are spent on grooming.
  • Your cat prefers eating out of a clean bowl in the same quiet spot everyday.
  • Cat's bite out of pleasure as well, so when your done petting your cat, if he/she bites you, it may not be a negative response.
My 'lil Comot had delivered three kittens recently, and that adds up the number of kittens in my house to 12. Yeah i know, it's sort of exceeds the limits of the number of cats people use to have in their house. Well, what i can say is that we are blessed with kittens and they are all over the place (lol) - in the living room, on the sofa, on the tables, in my room, on my laptop, on my bed, on my shoes, under my car, on my lap, in the toilet,...they seems to be everywhere.

As i told you, they are everywhere; underneath the umbrella..

Days in Elopura

Well, i just came back from the well known Sabah's lil Hong Kong, places of the primates! I was there not for a vacation; i was on duty. And this time i wasn't flying high in a chopper, but ridding' low on a boat. It was raining, the river was murky and deep down in my heart, i had this bad imagination of what were waiting for us down there underneath the murky water. To make things worst, i had my knee in deep pain (>,<)ouch! (past injury seemed to re-occurred).
Boat ride at Sg. Batang.

We stopped by to collect water samples.
So down we went to the river, the local called it Sg. Batang, a tributary of Kinabatangan River. I was scared of  falling into the water as the boat seemed unstable every time my colleague bent down to get the water samples and the water?,.. it was murky, it was dark, ... Dark Water?... hmmm... i brushed off the crazy idea i had in my mind that time. As we traveled down the river, the water gradually turned green. The surrounding was predominate by mangroves, egrets were everywhere and not forgetting the little mighty mudskipper! All in a sudden i started to enjoyed the boat ride; completely forgetting about my stupid dark water imagination ;).

We traveled for about almost an hour, taking water samples and photographs. I must say i like the tranquility and the scenery of the area, and yet it was sad to know that part of it will soon disappear. Blame it on the human development. I wish i could do something more to help those living things within the area, but i was there only for a little role play as an environmentalist. I did my part and had done my best..

Drive through the dust - the access road to our destination.

One of the site we went. Standing there, felt like i was in Arizona.
I found this 'lil fella somewhere at the site; i think you and i know what will happen next to it's life...

Marchin' On

For those days we felt like a mistake
Those times when loves what you hate
somehow
we keep marchin on

For those nights that i couldn't be there,
I've made it harder to know that you know
That somehow
We'll keep movin' on

There's so many wars we fought
There's so many things we're not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We're marchin' on
We're marchin' on

There's so many wars we fought
There's so many things we're not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We're marchin' on
We're marchin' on

So many hills we had to climb
almost without our strength
but we kept
slowly marchin on

time heals the wounds we couldnt close
blood sweat and tears dried up
we're okay
we kept marchin on

There's so many wars we fought
There's so many things we're not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We're marchin' on
We're marchin' on

There's so many wars we fought
There's so many things we're not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We're marchin' on
We're marchin' on

get your legs and walk
cause we're not too far
a little more to go
but we're marchin on
we marchin on
we marchin on
we marchin on
we marchin

if we lose the sun we couldnt deny that
if we go the wind we gotta fight back
but we marchin on
we marchin on
we marchin on
we marchin

the bridges are gone
and we're almost home
the end is close

There's so many wars we fought
There's so many things we're not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We're marchin' on
We're marchin' on

There's so many wars we fought
There's so many things we're not
But with what we have
I promise you that
We're marchin' on
We're marchin' on

Coffee Anyone?....

I am not originally a coffee drinker, but i guess i have become one.  It smells good. It sure does taste good too. And it comes to a point where ever morning i would make myself a cup of coffee. It's like i need it to make me awake and alert in the morning. hmmm... does it means i'm addicted to coffee?....

I saw my sister posted something on her FB wall yesterday that made me think about the pros and cons of drinking coffee, so without hesitating, i went to googled it and this is the findings:

The Pros:
-coffee provide antioxidants.
-helps to reduce parkinson's disease, diabetes, liver cirrhosis, gallstones and kidney stones, alzheimer's disease, asthma.
-helps to improve mental perfomance

The Cons:
Obviously it causes a lot of health diseases i.e heartburn, affecting the blood pressure, cholesterol. And yes it may causes insomnia too.

hmmm.. My point of view?.. To those coffee lovers out there, it's okay to drink coffee, as long as we take it moderately.

Got this picture from a friend. So?.. which way you prefer? (^^,)

Kinabatangan Corridor of Life

It’s common for those who call themselves ‘environmentalist’ doing jobs under the sun and yes not to mention under the rain. Being an outdoor person, I don’t mind all those things (just don’t put me too long indoor, or else,I’ll get rotten! (><,).

Frankly speaking, for the past three years getting myself involve in environmental field, I’ve been to so many places in Sabah (sampai di pisuk-pisuk Sabah sudah saya masuk merantau ni;)). Well that’s the way my job is. Most of the time, I will go to places via roads; an advantage for me to get to know the “road less taken” or “short-cuts” to minimize our travelling time (nahh..buli sudah saya ikut “short-cut” hehe).

The crew
My most memorable work trip?.. That would probably be the Kinabatangan Corridor of Life. I was up there in the blue sky flying in a chopper (1st time tu naik chopper ;P).

So what was i doing up there?.. Aerial survey! I used to do socio survey (you know when you go into villages and start asking 'boring' questions? i.e: Berapa lama sudah kamu tinggal di kampung ni? Dari mana sumber air kamu? bla bla bla.. fuhhh...><,

But this time we did survey from up above. We were trying our best to identify the places, rivers and perhaps elephants (mmmnope.. it wasn't my luck to see even a glimpse of an elephant from up there). We took off from Sabah Air (Sandakan branch) and the journey started from Sandakan town, flew over the Berhala island then heading to Kinabatangan area. The view was spectacular. Armed with my nikon camera  (sadly it's not a dslr, if only i brought it that day ;( )and maps in my hand, i tried my best to identify the places we discussed earlier.

Flying low over the Kinabatangan River.
It was much easier then to see everything from up there. There was once we flew over some villages in Sukau, when i thought i saw someone was having a shower in a poorly constructed bathroom (open air lagi tu! hehehe notty, notty me!). Those who noticed us waved up. Excited, we waved them back.

an oxbow lake
Up here, i could see two types of view; beautiful scene of mother nature and a scene where mother nature has been 'tortured' by human race;  illegal logging. It is of no wonder why our forest is depleting day by day.

And that's the reason of the establishment of the Kinabatangan Corridor of Life - aims to establish a balance between the growing demands of private land development, the local community and the need to protects its unique wildlife!

Kinabatangan river.
It was a great pleasure to be able to work with WWF and doing some GIS works. I enjoyed the air trip as well (^^,).

And not forgetting Mr. Will for treating us ikan bakar for lunch after the trip haha.

The KCOL crews (hmm shouldn't do the vignetting..)

Seriously I don’t think those with a family would love to have a job like me. Anyone in my shoes will have to travel a lot and be resilient.

But anyway, for me it’s fun (ok lah daripada saya duduk terjeruk di upis hahaha).

~N'gelz~

mmmmmm.....

I'm tired looking at the reports i am writing.. Well, well what can i say? It's my job for the last 3 years.. You guys might be wondering what sort of reports i'm talking about here. Ever heard Environmental Impact Assessment or famously known as EIA (among the environmentalist)? Nope? Ok i get it. Not so many people into environment or nature nowadays..

If i could do magic by snapping my finger, i would find myself lazing at the beach, underneath the coconut trees with a good book in my hand enjoying the sea breeze and blue sky or, or the sunset (^^,)..or with a DSLR taking pictures.

***Sighhhhhh********

It's just an imagination. The reality? I'm still stuck in my office;(. So many things happened recently, up and down but i guess that's just the way life is. And I guess i really need a break or a holiday.. I mean a 'real' long holiday..Will plan for that soon..hmmmmmmmmm.......

Ciao for now..

~N'gelz~

One of my favorite place! Well i'm a beach-maniac after all (lol).

Angels’ Cry
She was lost in so many different ways, in the darkness with no guide. Life is a maze and love is a riddle, she doesn’t know where to go.

She has been alone when surrounded by friends. She thought “how could the silence be so loud?” Her bitter heart keeps getting more fragile each day.

The final blow hit so low, which made her still on the ground. She couldn’t have prepared for the fall, shattered in pieces, curled on the floor. She thought again, that limitless omnipresent kind of love couldn’t have guessed it would just stop and disappear in the whirlwind.

And there she was, walking on a narrow robe, wobbling, but won’t let go, waiting for a glimpse of the sun’s glow. Again she tried to make things right, she was on the edge, trying to survive as the angels cried.

She remembered she used to touch the sky, she knew she could stand back up, just needed to be pulled up, she was willing to live and die for what she thought belong to her.

She’s just a soul lost in the moment, scared yet doesn’t show it. She can’t figure it out and it’s bringing her down. She knows it’s time to let it go. She felt the angels cried as she said good bye….

BEAUTY IN THE WORLD

Sitting there watching the sunset,
I thought I was fed up.
All they talk about is what is going on,
What's been messed up..
They say we need more money, we need more love,
That changes gonna come like the weather...

But when i look around i see the beauty in the world,
Gotta stop and smell the flowers,
Listen to the sound,
It's sweet music and dance..

When i don't know what to do,
Don't know if i make it through,
I just remember that God is giving me,
Beauty in the world..

And i just continue to love..

TOTS

“1, 2, 3 smile!” at last I got these three little tot in place and style; perfect enough for me to make them fit into the viewfinder;). I love to look at those genuine smiles carved on these little ones’ faces. The joy they had when I took their pictures was radiated in their smiles.

Angel is my little niece, and those other two tots are her friends, best friends indeed. All day long, they were just playing non-stop running here and there, giggling and laughing at each other. Sometimes I found them pretending sailing in a big ship, other time I would find them hijacking a train, if it wasn’t a train then it would be a car. At other times I would find them laughing or giggling at each other. Well what can I say? There are just kids. Welcome to the kiddy world.

Though I could not really understand what were they laughing at or what made them giggled, they made me smile and reminded me that I was once a hyperactive gullible tot too ;) (Well not anymore hahaha).

One day she’s going to thank me for taking this picture (LOL).

~ Would love to share this beautiful poem with you (who ever reads it). Foot Prints on the Sand. A beautiful and meaningful poem. I'm not sure who is the writer, but I'm sure the writer is a good poem writer..~

Foot Prints on the Sand
One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.
This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.
So I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?”
The Lord replied,
“The times when you have seen only one set of footprints in the sand,
is when I carried you.”
